How to set up 'Geofolink'

Modified on Fri, 21 Feb at 12:41 PM

Geofolia API – spray recommendations can be sent to Geofolia. An email is automatically sent to the farmer with the PDF version of the recommendation(s) to notify them.

The Geofolia API currently allows spray recommendations and fertiliser recommendations to be exported/sent straight to a hosted version of Geofolia without having to export, email and import a file manually. It is done automatically at the click of a button. It does not work if the Geofolia version is a local version.

Requirements/setup for the Geofolia API:

  • Pear users must ensure that the Single Business Identifier is entered for each client in Client Information. This SBI must match the SBI used in the Geofolia program.
  • Pear users must ensure that the fields they want to share data for are created in Geofolia and have matching field names to the Pear field names. The fields need to be in the correct crop year too, so for example, fields in 2023-2024 (Pear crop year) need to be in the 2024 crop rotation in Geofolia.
  • Geofolia users need to make the relevant fields available via the Specifications. To do this they should go to Settings > Specifications. Add a new specification and name it ‘Geofolink’ under the ‘Description’ tab as below with the tick boxes as shown.

Then clink on the ‘Link with joint platform’ tab and enter the details (GB-PEAR-DATA) as below before clicking on 'Connect with the platform'.

Ensure to tick the Consent

The diagnostic report  produced when connected shows any activities or crops that are not linked to the reference frame. Some will not be relevant however this allows you to check those main cropping/activities (spray and fertiliser related) are linked correctly

Once the Specification has been created, view the fields in the table format, select the relevant field(s) and go to Grouped Records > Specifications and select Geofolink from the drop-down menu. By showing the Specifications column you can check which fields are linked to Geofolink.

Once the Geofolia user has completed the steps above, then the Pear user's must go to Operations > Geofolia and click on the LINK TO GEOFOLIA. This is required each crop year and a tick will show in the Geofolia column once linked in that year

Pear user’s can now export/send spray recommendation(s) via the API by choosing the ‘Send recommendations to Geofolia using Geofolink’ option from the EXPORT.
